Safer with a black box…

Sam tells us about a recent incident she attended.

“Whilst I was on patrol, a young lad of 17 years of age, having only passed his driving test 2 months ago, spun his car in front of me The car flipped over and landed on its roof. Whilst I was trying to get him out of the car, his mobile phone started to ring. He answered the call and it was his insurance company asking him if he was ok? The black box in his vehicle instantly sent a SOS message to a call centre sensing that he had an accident. They could pin point where he was and the speed he was doing. They even offered to call the emergency services. I have heard about the capabilities of this technology but to actually see it happen first hand with the black box was very impressive.”

Surely another great reason to tell parents and young drivers about telematics?
